The area “Vallée du Lot et du Vignoble”

Far away from mass tourism, in the authentic & unspoilt region of the Lot (Midi – Pyrenees/ South West France), lies the village of Mauroux. It is at the intersection of the departments Lot (46), Dordogne (24), Lot et Garonne(47) and Tarn et Garonne(82). The white limestone after which Quercy Blanc is named, is an ideal terroir for the numerous vineyards of the Pays de Cahors which produce a powerful round red wine (Malbec). You can also find very good rose and white wines from the Vallee du Lot. Regional products are plentiful. There are many culinary surprises in the many fine restaurants, or the local markets offer a variety of fresh local produce to inspire you. The regions of the Lot/ Lot et Garonne are famed for fine and creamy goats cheese, black truffles, Saffran Quercy, honey, duck breast (magret), foie gras, apples, plums, cherries and melons.

Sometimes it seems like you are somewhere in a medieval setting!

A number of activities at a glance:

*Cahors wines– There are so many vineyards to visit. Try our local one; Château de Latuc, where you may get a tour and a tasting.

*Markets -Highly recommended are the local markets; Montcuq, Prayssac, Montaigu de Quercy, Monsempron-Libos, Villeneuve sur Lot and Cahors. And then of course the atmospheric summer night markets  (marchés gourmands), where the locals find their entertainment also.

*Beautiful picturesque villages and fortified towns like; Puy L’Eveque, Tournon d’Agenais, Penne d’Agen, Montflanquin, Montpazier and Pujols.

*Cities as Villeneuve sur Lot, Cahors, Agen, Bergerac, Montauban and Toulouse, guarantee nice terraces, beautiful architecture and pleasant shopping.

*Rocamadour and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie are the most popular tourist attractions of the region, and for good reason – because they are impressively beautiful.

*The majestic castle of Bonaguil and Biron.

*The Miracles of Mother Nature; the impressive “Gouffre the Padirac”, Cave “Pech Merle”, and the small but nice Cave “Grotte de Lastournelle”.

*Many hiking and biking trails (beware it rides, hilly landscape!). Therefore very suitable for cycling and mountain biking. Horse riding is also great in this area.

*Playing golf in the Quercy Blanc:

*The beauty of the River Lot

The Lot is perfect for fun in and around the water. With a canoe, pedalos. or a boat ride in Cahors is very nice and from the water gives it a very different picture of the city. Carp fishing is possible in the Lot.

*Canoe tours can be made on the River Cele and Dordogne, for the whole family (from +/- 5 years).

*The lake in Montcuq with its sandy beach is a nice refreshing change.

*The jovial Z’animoland, animal park is very fun to do with the little ones!

*Sportive highlight for the whole family: Parc-en-ciel, the outdoor climbing and clambering park.

*Located just outside the city of Agen Walibi Aquitaine, the largest attraction park of the region.

*The beautiful city of Toulouse, and just outside; “Cite Espace” and Airbus.

Leisure and fun for the whole family!
